What I’m Listening To: My Spotify Playlist- June Edition

Music is one thing that is constant in our day-to-day lives. Whether it be on the radio, in the background of the elevator, playing in the grocery store, or even in the mall, it is something we hear often and also enjoy.

Music first arose in the paleolithic period. THAT’S RIGHT! The cavemen era… The Stone Age.

There are other thoughts that remain unclear as to whether this was the Middle (300,000 to 50,000 BP) or Upper Paleolithic (50,000 to 12,000 BP). But… the vast majority of Paleolithic instruments have been found in Europe and date to the Upper Paleolithic. It is still interesting; some might say common sense. But I find it interesting, to say the least…

There are other theories about when music first arose, such as from the Book of Genesis with a character named Jubal, who was said to have played the flute. One popular story from the Middle Ages credits the Greek philosopher Pythagoras as the inventor of music.

Whoever invented music, beats, or whatnot, music has been around for years. It has only advanced with time and continues to do so as time goes on. And it affects our mood, emotions, and so much more… Enough with the history lesson, let’s see what I am listening to!

June is in the MIDDLE of the year. If you’re in Mississippi, it is hot and humid. Mississippi summers are something you just have to experience for yourself…

A year ago this time, I was in Wyoming in the mountains. I was living a different life than I am right now. Looking back, I miss that. Yes, it was hard to move out there and do things on my own, but it was so freeing and so good for me.

The playlist I currently have on repeat is a playlist I made named “83002” which is the zip code for Jackson Hole. It consists of 131 songs for the 131 days that I spent out there. It’s filled with nostalgic mountain songs and good alternative music that is perfect for a curvy sunset drive up the mountains, down the mountains, or anywhere in between. It is also perfect for summer days in Mississippi, taking afternoon walks and/or to have as background music while in the office.

Check it out and listen for yourself.

So, with that being said, what type of music do you enjoy? Comment below!
