Spring is here and in full swing, and with the bright skies, pollen-infested sidewalks, and sniffles, we must stay on trend with the latest fashion must-haves! Have you been paying attention to the latest and hottest looks for the spring?? Well, if not… Just scroll right along and I will give you a quick rundown on what is in and trending, what might just be considered a quick fad, and what is worth trying out to stay fashionably acceptable in the spring fashion world. We don’t gatekeep, soooo, here is a quick little rundown of some spring clothing and accessories you need in your closet this year:

Before we get started, let’s learn our vocabulary on the difference between a “fad” and a “trending” item.

Fad: Fads are objects or behaviors that achieve short-lived popularity but fade away. Fads are often seen as sudden, quick-spreading, and short-lived. Fads include diets, clothing, hairstyles, toys, and more.

Trends: A fashion trend signifies a specific look or expression that is spread across a population at a specific time and place. A trend is considered a more ephemeral look, not defined by the seasons when collections are released by the fashion industry.

To sum that up, if you want to spend your money wisely, stay more focused on what is trending, because it will be more timeless than fads, and find those good and popular fads at the thrift store. (;

Leather On Leather

Although you would think the leather duo would be more of a winter-type vibe, it sure is a trending topic for the Spring 2023 Fashion Department. Leather is timeless, so of course, this is a trend! Check out how some of these models have made this trend an appearance on the runway, and how you can wear and style it for yourself, too.

Perfect Pastels

This trend is one that just goes with the seasons. Pastels are a must when winter fades into spring, and the light transition colors of pastels make for a perfect transition for the fashion side of things as well. Here are some of my favorite pastel fashion pairs I have seen so far for Spring Fashion Trends.

The Canadian Tuxedo

Did you know denim on denim was a spring trend? And yes, this is a TREND! Because denim is timeless and can be worn all year ’round! The last time I strutted a Canadian Tuxedo was at the Ole Miss vs Alabama game, and it never fails as a good “go-to” outfit. We aren’t just talking bluejeans. Pair your denim on denim look with a denim skirt and denim tank, denim jacket, anyhting denim! Check out some of these denim on denim pictures!

Blinding Whites

Nothing says springtime like white cotton. What’s that rule again? You can’t wear white after Labor Day?? Well, now is the perfect time to throw on your favorite white outfits and get good use of them this spring. Slightly cropped embroidered blouses, loose-fitting shirts, oversize tent dresses, and more… Let’s see your best white fit!

Mellow Yellow

Nothing says spring has returned like sun rays shining through the clouds, and if you paid attention to New York Fashion Week, then you certainly felt drenched in sunshine, even though in reality the rain clouds were never far away. (April showers bring May flowers). Yellow is such a spring look, from a nice yellow sundress, long flowy dress, button up shirt, to blazer… It is a trend that is here to stay for the spring season.

Statement Maxi Skirts

Those long maxi skirts can keep you feeling cool and breezy on those days when it is overcast and windy. Even though they might just be considered a “fad”, maxi skirts should still be a must-have item in your spring wardrobe this season! Don’t forget to make that a “Statement” maxi skirt! Check out some of the hottest statement maxi skirts that have made an appearance on the runways and latest fashion weeks!

Flashy Metallics

Yep, you heard that right. Metallics are back. From shiny golds, silvers, and bronzes, to bright pinks, yellows, and pastels, sequins, and shiny finishes showed up on too many catwalks to count, meaning it’s high time to add a little flash to your rotation. There’s no wrong approach, whether you go for a metallic miniskirt or chrome shoes.

The Quilted Light Jacket

The quilted light jacket is something that is fashionable and can bring a pop of pattern or color to any outfit. Considering that it is “light”, you can bring it anywhere with you, and throw it on or off, depending on the weather. Tie it around the waste, or put it on your shoulders for that trendy “off the shoulder” look. Here are a few stylish and cute quilted light jackets that you should check out for this spring!

Sheer Brilliance

Transparently, this is one of the chicest “fads” of the season. Displayed on the runways at Prada, Miu Miu, Tory Burch, Tibi, and Dries Van Noten (to name a few), see-through garments in delicate fabrics and hues are one clear way to wear the season’s pastel palette. I would throw this one in the “fad” category, because how many days out of the year will you be able to strut it in transparent, see-through material? Ha, ha! Timeless Rosey Rosettes

Rosettes have been surging lately, but it is nothing new. Fabric florals have been around since at least 1864. How’s that for longevity? If you’re spending money on the trend, it’s comforting to know that it will always come back in style even with fashion’s notoriously unforgiving ebbs and flows. I am calling this one a fad, just because this one is not as timely and repetitive as the other timeless pieces mentioned in the TRENDS section above.
